100 Mile Elementary
Dear Families,
As our children grow up in an increasingly connected world, learning how to use technology safely and responsibly is an essential life skill. Even at the elementary level, students are engaging with digital tools—whether it’s researching online, communicating with friends, or exploring educational apps. These early experiences shape how they view and interact with the digital world.
Online literacy means more than just knowing how to use a device. It includes understanding how to find reliable information, protect personal privacy, communicate respectfully, and recognize when something online doesn’t feel right. Online safety involves helping children build the confidence to make wise choices—whether they’re navigating websites, watching videos, or hearing about social media from peers.
At École 100 Mile, our work around digital citizenship connects closely with the Circle of Courage. Online safety supports Belonging by helping students build positive relationships; Independence by teaching them to make thoughtful choices; Mastery by developing digital skills and discernment; and Generosity by encouraging kindness and empathy in online spaces.
We invite all parents and caregivers to join an upcoming information session hosted by School District 27 and Safer Schools Together on Monday, October 20th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary. This evening will explore current social media trends, digital reputation, cyberbullying prevention, and family strategies for online safety.
Together, we can empower our children to thrive—both online and off.
Warm regards,
Ms. Langton, Principal / Directrice
