100 Mile Elementary
🐺 Back and Off to a Great Start!
Our Wolf Pack is off to a fantastic start this fall! We’ve welcomed many new students and families who are already adding fresh energy, new friendships, and unique talents to our school community. It’s wonderful to see how quickly everyone is finding their place in the pack and contributing to our spirit of Belonging and Generosity.
We’re also excited to share that our exterior renovation is in its final stages of completion. The building looks beautiful, and it’s been amazing to watch our school get a well-deserved facelift — a fresh, welcoming look that reflects the pride we all feel for École 100 Mile Elementary!
🏃♂️ Terry Fox Run – Belonging & Generosity
Our Wolf Pack raised an amazing $1,220 during this year’s Terry Fox Run! Even with the rain, students showed incredible spirit running through the park. A special thank-you to everyone who participated!
🧡 Orange Shirt Day – Generosity & Belonging
Our Wolf Pack took time this month to reflect, remember, and learn together in honour of Orange Shirt Day — a day that reminds us that Every Child Matters.
Several of our students and staff joined the Williams Lake community walk, standing alongside others to recognize the experiences of Residential School Survivors and their families. Back at school, classrooms shared stories, created art, and talked about the importance of kindness, empathy, and truth.
Orange Shirt Day connects deeply to our Circle of Courage values of Belonging and Generosity. When we listen, learn, and give space to others’ stories, we strengthen our sense of community and understanding. As the Seven Sacred Teachings remind us, love and respect guide the path toward reconciliation.
At École 100 Mile Elementary, we honour these teachings by continuing to learn with open hearts and by ensuring that every child truly feels that they belong.
🍎 Welcoming New Faces – Belonging
We’re happy to welcome our teacher candidates, Ms. Pittman and Ms. Lum, who are observing and working with some of our incredible teachers this year as they begin their journey into the realm of education. We’ve also welcomed Destiny Smith, joining our team as an Education Assistant in training. We’re so glad to have you as part of the Wolf Pack!
📜 Code of Conduct Review – Independence & Belonging
Throughout the month, classes have been taking time to revisit and reflect on our École 100 Mile Elementary Code of Conduct. We want every student to understand that everyone deserves the right to learn in a safe, caring, and healthy environment — one where respect, responsibility, and kindness guide all of our choices.
By reviewing our expectations together, we help students see that belonging to the Wolf Pack means looking out for one another. When we show respect for ourselves, others, and our surroundings, we create a school where everyone feels included and able to do their best learning.
Our Code of Conduct connects closely to the Circle of Courage, especially the values of Independence (making good choices) and Belonging (caring for our community). Each conversation, classroom agreement, and moment of reflection helps strengthen the positive culture we continue to build together.
🌿 Health Promoting Schools – October Focus
This month’s Health Promoting Schools updates highlight opportunities for students and families to learn and grow together. Grade 6–12 students can enter the Beyond the Buzz poster contest to share their views on substance use. BC Children’s Hospital has released new multilingual mental health resources to support families, along with free ADHD information sessions through Kelty Mental Health. The Ministry of Health is also inviting parents to take part in screen use discussion groups to help guide future family supports. Together, these programs promote wellness, balance, and belonging across our community. Please see the Kelty website for some excellent resources for children and families.
🎃 Halloween Fun – Belonging & Celebration
Halloween is just around the corner, and our Wolf Pack is ready for some spooky fun! After recess, students will take part in our Halloween Parade to the Community Hall, showing off their creative costumes for families and friends. Most classes will enjoy classroom celebrations after lunch, filled with games, treats, and laughter.
A friendly reminder that replica weapons such as swords, knives, or toy guns are to stay at home — we want to keep our day safe and fun for everyone. We can’t wait to see the creativity and community spirit that make Halloween such a special tradition at École 100 Mile Elementary¨
🎃 Halloween Fun & PAC Basket Giveaway! 👻
Our incredible PAC continues to go above and beyond for our Wolf Pack! Several times a year, they create themed baskets that bring excitement and joy to our students — and Halloween is one of those special times. Everyone who attends school on Halloween Day will be entered into a draw to win a basket:
🎃 One for our Primary students
👻 One for our Intermediate students
A huge thank-you to our PAC for their ongoing creativity, generosity, and care. Their efforts help make our school a warm and connected community — one where every student feels part of the pack. 🐾❤️
On Halloween, students are invited to wear costumes and join our costume walk to the Community Hall after recess. Those who choose not to participate in the costume parade will be welcomed to enjoy time in the gym, where there will be music, fun, and time to connect with friends.
We know that not all students celebrate Halloween, and we are intentional in creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and included — no matter how they choose to take part. 💛
